Anchor Scripture: Mark 1:1. Message Notes: Think of a time when it felt like nothing but bad news kept coming your way. What happened? On the bigger scene of culture and world events, what makes it seem like “bad news abounds?” Read Mark 1:1. What do you find most intriguing about the historical backdrop to Mark’s Gospel? What’s compelling about the unique aim of his account? Consider these motivations for us to live sent . . . The Son of God— Jesus the Messiah— The Gospel— The beginning— Which of these is most motivating to you? Why? To whom do you sense you are sent with the good news this summer? Why? What are you sensing about Christ’s call? Get Ready for Next Week: Read through Mark’s Gospel, 2 or 3 chapters each day. Watch for every time “the Son of God” is referenced. Deliberately reflect on Jesus and his friends. How do you see them living sent? What are their postures, priorities, and practices?
